Safeguarding your Privacy

PolarisKey is a voluntary program and a part of USVI Department of Health (USVI DOH)’s Beacon USVI Initiative to provide you with a secure digital vaccination record that serves as proof of COVID-19 vaccination. PolarisKey has been designed to make it easy for you to securely share your vaccination status, while maintaining your privacy, with a growing network of vetted local organizations, government services, as we safely reopen businesses and events.

PolarisKey is administered by Hummingbird Health, Inc. (“HH” or “We”). We are committed to safeguarding your privacy through our compliance with this privacy notice. When you use your PolarisKey to share your vaccine status with a venue, the venue only gets a confirmation of your vaccination status (Verified, Pending, Incomplete, Unknown). All your personal information and vaccination record remains private. Organizations participating in the PolarisKey network are vetted and require you to consent to the sharing of your information by presenting your PolarisKey. Additionally, PolarisKey can be used as a portable digital vaccination record to simplify travel experiences.

You can request your PolarisKey at https://getkey.usvi.care. We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data, which is any information that can identify you as an individual person. By accessing, registering with, or using PolarisKey you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy). Your continued use of PolarisKey after we revise this policy means you accept those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.

Information we collect

Since PolarisKey is a voluntary program, you need to request one be issued to you at: https://getkey.usvi.care (the “Site”).

By requesting your PolarisKey you provide personal information about yourself which allows the program to access USVI DOH information to verify and issue the key. Once your PolarisKey is created, you may print it or store it electronically.

When you access the Site to request your PolarisKey you may provide us with the following personal information, directly: your full name; date of birth; phone number; email address; the type, date and location of your vaccinations; your photo ID.

The following information may be automatically collected from you when you use the Site:

Usage Details. When you access the site, it may automatically collect certain details of your access to and use of the site including traffic data, logs, communication data and the resources that you access and use on or through the site. When you use your Polaris Key at a venue (for example to show verification of your vaccination status) we collect that information. Device or Computer Information. The site may collect information about your IP address.

Additionally, we may receive information about you from third parties, namely the USVI Department of Health. This includes confirmation of your vaccination.

Do Not Track Disclosure

The site does not support “Do Not Track” browser settings and do not currently participate in any “Do Not Track” framework that would enable us to respond to Do Not Track signals.

How the information is used

PolarisKey uses the information that collected about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information, to:

verify your vaccination information
provide you with a digital vaccine record (your “PolarisKey”)
to communicate with you about your vaccine record
fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.
to comply with a request submitted by you to a third party.
to comply with our legal obligations.
to provide you with customer support.
prevent or investigate user complaints, possible fraud or for other security purposes.

Information Disclosures

PolarisKey may disclose personal information that we collect, or you provide:

To the USVI Department of Health for verification of vaccination record(s)
To the USVI Immunization Registry
With your consent
To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
Anonymous usage data and metrics related to issuance of PolarisKey and its usage are shared with USVI DOH.

Where and how we store your data

We encrypt all information collected through the Site and store it securely in the United States using third-party vendors and hosting partners who implement industry standard security measures. By requesting and using the Site and the PolarisKey, you authorize the transferring, storing and processing of your information in the United States.

Data Retention

We retain your information, only as necessary, for the duration of the validity of your vaccination record. If applicable laws require us to store your information for a longer period, then we will keep your information for the period required by law.

Children under the age of 13

The site https://getkey.usvi.care is not intended for children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian wanting to request a PolarisKey for a child under the age of 13 please contact us here: 340-712-6299 (St. Croix) or 340-776-1519 (St. Thomas/St. John)

Link to third party sites

PolarisKey may provide links to third party websites or information as a service to users. If you use these links, you will leave PolarisKey sites. Such links do not constitute or imply an affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by PolarisKey of the third party, the third party website, or the information contained therein, and PolarisKey shall not be responsible or liable for your use thereof. Such use shall be subject to the terms of use and privacy policies applicable to those sites.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

PolarisKey may update our privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' personal information, we will post the new privacy policy on this page with a notice that the privacy policy has been updated.

The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for periodically visiting this privacy policy to check for any changes.
